For the barley soup, put the rolled barley on to boil with all the ingredients without the beans. After about 3/4 of an hour, check to see if the barley is soft.
If it is soft enough, add the drained beans and bring to a boil again. Season with salt if necessary.
Preparation Tip:
The barley soup can also be prepared without ham. Vegetables and the like can be varied according to taste.
