If the prickly pears are not de-spined, then put on gloves (*) and plane off the spines with the back of a knife. Rinse figs briefly under running water.

Cut both ends of prickly pears into small pieces. Score peel lengthwise and peel off with the tip of a knife. Cut flesh into slices, garnish with mint leaves and place on crushed ice in a glass bowl form. Marinate with Marsala and infuse for twenty min.

(*) Very important!! Do not touch the prickly pears with bare hands! The spines do not seem so bad at first, but they are… The prickly pears can also be brushed under running water.
