Instructions:

Drain the cherries well. Beat the eggs with the sugar and vanilla sugar.

Mix the flour, nuts, cocoa and baking powder and stir into the egg mixture. Mix the oil into the batter and gently fold in the cherries.

Pour the dough into a rolled-out pan and bake in a preheated oven at 180°C / hot air for 50-60 minutes.

For the marzipan, mix the marzipan and sugar and roll out thinly. (How big depends on the shape used.) Let the cake cool a bit and put the marzipan layer on top. If desired, decorate the cocoa cherry cake with a little cocoa.

Preparation Tip:

If you use small cups, you need a Ø 24 cm baking dish for this cake.
