A great cake recipe for any occasion:

For the filling, mix marzipan paste with softened butter, orange marmalade and orange zest.

For the dough, stir curd with milk, oil, sugar, vanilla sugar and salt. Mix flour with baking powder, sift, fold in half of it and knead in the rest of the flour.

Roll out the dough into a rectangle about 36 x 48 cm and cut squares about 12 x 12 cm. Spread a tiny bit of the filling on one half of each dough square, always leaving a 1/2-1 cm border. Brush the edges of the dough with beaten egg white, fold each uncoated half of the dough over the filling, press lightly to smooth, and cut each piece of dough twice lengthwise to about 1 cm below the top edge. Braid the 3 connected strips of dough into braids, pressing the ends a tiny bit tight.

Place the braids on a baking tray lined with baking parchment. Whisk egg yolk with milk and brush the dough braids with it. Bake in a heated oven at 175-200 degrees for about 15-20 minutes.

For the glaze, mix powdered sugar with orange juice and brush the pastry braids with it on the spot after baking.
