Sheera is often served as a small snack.

Put the saffron powder in a small cup form, pour warm water over it and soak for 10 minutes.

Melt butter in a heavy saucepan, add semolina, stirring continuously, and fry over medium heat until golden brown. Add chopped banana and raisins and fold in well.

Add the milk and mix well. Stir in the sugar. Reduce the heat and put the lid on. Stir occasionally until the sugar is dissolved. Remove the saucepan from the stove.

Add the saffron and its soaking liquid, cardamom powder and almond kernels, stir and serve hot.
