Defrost the puff pastry and cut into strips two centimeters wide. Also cut ham or cheese into suitable strips.
Cover each of the puff pastry strips with a strip of cheese or ham, pressing a little smooth. Press the strips together at the ends and twist them like a spiral. Mix the egg yolks and the milk, spread a thin layer on the spirals and sprinkle with salt, sesame seeds and/or caraway seeds.
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper, place the puff pastry spirals on it. Bake in the heated oven for about 15 minutes until golden brown (fan oven 200 °C , otherwise 220 °C ).
