Although today one has fruits from all continents at one’s disposal, a classic leaf salad of apples, oranges and bananas, enriched with dried figs and raisins, has an incomparable harmony.

The night before, cut the figs into quarters and place them in a shallow dish with the raisins. Pour water, rum and half of the sugar over them and put them in the refrigerator.

The next day, peel the bananas and cut them into slices, put them in a suitable bowl and sprinkle them with the juice of a lemon to keep them light. Peel the apples and cut them into slices as well, treating them with the juice of a lemon.

Peel the oranges (1) with a sharp knife to remove the white skin, cut them into slices and add them to the rest of the fruit together with the coarsely chopped nuts and the rest of the sugar. Finally, cover with figs, raisins, rum and juice of squeezed oranges (2).

Before serving, put the fruit salad in the refrigerator for at least an hour without stirring.
